Bavet slumped against a tree deep in the Payonese forests. It was a cool, murky area of the wood; little sunlight could reach him. It didn't matter. The "Sunsong" bard didn't feel much like sunshine or singing.

| The bard stretched out over the warm Payonese grass.
'It's been too long ... much too long.' he thought, relaxing in the sunshine.
He had been busy as of late, running around Rune-Midgard performing odd-jobs to scrape up money. There was even an incident where he had to perform at a bachelorette party, but that was another story.
Bavet scratched his head and sat up. He wanted to see Celestiana. This was where they usually hung out, so he would be able to find her easily. Grabbing his lyre, he rushed through the large wooden gates of Payon.
Countless heads dotted the town, but as far as he could tell, none were the one he sought. He bit his lip anxiously, and continued his search. As he made his way around, the sound of boys cheering and cat-calling reached his ears. It was a familiar sound, and was almost always connected with ...
Celestiana.
There she was, smiling and dancing, as usual. She twisted and turned, and even blew a kiss into the crowd. This only envoked more cheering from the boys, who were now attempting to claw their way onto the mock-stage, an old wooden table.
"Celes!" he called, cupping his hands around his mouth, "Celes, I'm back!"
She turned at his voice, stopping her dance. At once her face lit up, and she lept from the table into his awaiting arms. They held each other for moment, before Celestiana broke away, blushing. She was, after all, partly-naked.
"Where've you been? I mi-- ... I've been looking all over for you!" she said, poking her lower lip out.
Bavet laughed, scratching the back of his head.
After dispersing of the gaggle of boys (there was also a pervy old man), the two sat down at that very same table.
As Bavet attempting to get closer to Celestiana though, she seemed to lean out of his grasp, her eyes avoiding contact.
' ...? '
"Did ... I do something?" he asked; his child-like curiousity filling his voice.
She seems sad for a second ... or was it shame?
" ... I have to tell you something." Celestiana said.

... What was his last name?
As he kept trying to reach the catacombs of his mind that would answer the question, he kept remembering that day. It seemed childish and trivial thinking back, but memories were what calmed the bard, and he need to calm down, especially now.
He, Andromeda, and Celestiana were all sitting with their legs hanging over the bridge that traversed the Payon river. It was a hot summer day, and they had chosen this day to relax their bow-arms, the multiple string whips etched criss-crosses in thier arms. They had become bruises over time, and the bruises had began to bleed freely when they decided it was best to stop.
Andromeda, Celestiana's older sister, was telling them of her latest infatuation, a mysterious mage by the name of Sarmy.
"Aaahhh~" she sighed, "his magic is so strong, and his hair flows in the wind."
Celestiana and Bavet made revolted faces at each other, and pretended to throw up in the Payon river.
"Hey! You guys won't think it's so funny when I'm Mrs. Sarmy Bathers."
The young archer was confused.
"I thought your name was Andromeda Telcontar?" he asked, his voice sound as if it were more of a statement.
"Yes, but when you get married, you get the other person's last name," she gave a loud laugh, "Like someday Celes here will become Mrs. Bavet ... uhm..." She stopped short, she didn't know his last name. None of them did.
"Blech~! Sarmy Bathers ? Thats a hideous name!" Celestiana said loudly, attempting to cut her sister off.
"It really is~" Bavet chipped in, wanting to get in on the joke.
"Oh yeah? What's your last name, Bavet?"
...
What was his last name?
'I suppose I'll just have to make one up. But... what would be a good name? It has to fit me, of course. And it has to sound good, lyrical.'
It didn't take long for the cogs of his mind to latch together like clockwork. He decided right there and then, looking up at the nighttime sky, his new last name.

| 'What... is that sound?'
Bavet lept from his knapsack with an unknown vigor. He followed the sound through the thick brush that was native to Payon and it's surroundings. The thorns that hung in the trees scratched his face and got caught on his scarf, but he continued anyway, driven by curiosity.
He finally reached the source of it. A duet, a bard and dancer, where singing and dancing to a small crew of adventurers. All were smiling and laughing, sitting around the warm glow of a campfire.
Bavet couldn't help but long to be that bard, his voice warming the very souls of his companions.
'I know... what I'm going to be.'
Bavet rolled over in his sleep. That dream again. It was old now... but still he loved to think of that time, when he first discovered his future profession.
But one thing still bothered him. What was that song they sang, as they dancied merrily around the fire?

| Bavet tapped his pen against his chin several times before finally deciding to write. He wrote several lines and then scribbled them out over and over, until he finally got something he was happy with. Something that would show her how much he cared... how he felt. Even now, just thinking about her made his heart flutter.
And performing with her was no better. He could barely remember what strings to pluck as he watched her body sway and flow to the rhythm of his playing. But this song would tell her.
